The Friday 5 is a popular series of 5 mile races and accompanying junior races held on Friday evenings between May and July, across Suffolk and Essex. The races are always family friendly and are a great way to spend a summers evening. Prizes are awarded to individuals and teams at each race, and also for the series as a whole (based on a points system).
All 5 mile races start at 7.30pm. For the start times of junior races please refer to individual club websites.
Final results and trophy collection arrangements
Thank you everyone who ran in this years JM Finn Friday 5 Series. We hope you enjoyed taking part as much as we enjoyed putting it on. The final results are now on the results pages
Congratulations to Saint Edmund Pacers on winning the main series team competition, and congratulation to Ipswich Jaffa for winning the junior team competition. The winner of the women’s open competition was Maddie Jordan-Lee from Stowmarket Striders, and the winner of the men’s open competition was Jack Nixon from Saint Edmund Pacers.
We also award trophies to the top 3 finishers in each age category (main series and juniors), so if that’s you – Congratulations!
In addition to the above, 252 seniors ran at least 4 races and will receive a bespoke series medal. In the junior series there were 66 who completed 3 or more races and will also receive a series medal.
This year we are giving people 2 opportunities to collect their trophies or series medals (see below). To make collection easier we will group together all the trophies and medals according to club. Within each bag/box of trophies and medals there will be a list of the recipients so that each club can distribute them to their members. If you don’t belong to an affiliated club, you will need to collect yours in person (or notify us if someone is collecting it on your behalf).
Ipswich Twilight 10K on Friday 15th July
Medals and awards can be collected from the information desk, which will be located in the large marquee next to the practice pitch at Ipswich Town Football Club. They can be collected before 7pm or after the Twilight race presentations.
Felsted 10K on Sunday 17th July
There will be a collection point set up next to the main presentations. They can be collected whilst the main presentations are taking place (approximately 11am).
If you have any questions about the above, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Collection of awards and series medals
The usual arrangements for collection of awards and series medals isn’t going to be possible this year, as sadly the Ipswich Ekiden Relays aren’t taking place. To make it as easy as possible for runners in Suffolk and Essex to collect their awards and medals we have selected two alternative events, once in each county.
- Twilight 10K on Friday 15th July
- Felsted 10K on Sunday 17th July.
Runners and teams are responsible for collecting their prizes or making arrangements for them to be collected on their behalf.
